What Kind Of Life?

What Kind Of Life!
We are not in control of everything that happens around us, to us, and in us. However, we do have some significant influence over some things. Unfortunately, we have sometimes given away or given up on the things over which we do have some influence.
Some struggle with addiction to alcohol, pain relievers, and meth or maybe to porn, eating, or status. These addictions continually distract us and destroy the dream Jesus has for our life. Although I do not have control of everything and everyone around me, I do have the freedom to make a choice that honors God.
For others the struggle is with a lack of motivation, the lack of a goal, or the lack of clear purpose. We remain unmoved while the Holy Spirit is calling us to be something and do something. Although I do not have control of everything and everyone around me, I do have the freedom to seek God’s dream for my life.
What kind of life is Jesus calling you to live? Don’t be too quick to answer. Spend some time remembering how Jesus sees your future. Consider two of God’s promises; one from the Old Testament and one from the New Testament.
In Jeremiah 29:11-14 the Lord God says; “For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope. Then when you call upon me and come and pray to me, I will hear you. When you search for me, you will find me; if you seek me with all your heart, I will let you find me, says the Lord, and I will restore your fortunes…”
In Matthew 7:7-8 Jesus says; “Ask, and it will be given you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened for you. For everyone who asks receives, and everyone who searches finds, and for everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.”
What kind of life will you choose to live today?
Will it be a life in which today has no hope? Will it be a life in which today Jesus will not listen to you? Will it be a life in which today Jesus will not be near you? Will it be a life in which today Jesus will fail to open a door for you? Will it be a life in which today Jesus will not restore something in you or for you?
What kind of life will you choose to live today?
Jesus has already promised to give you a life that is over-flowing with His love, a life in which His grace will always be sufficient, and a life in which His strength will give you courage to follow Him. But, we have to choose right now what kind of life we are going to live today.
What kind of life will you choose to live today?
I invite you to make a choice to follow Jesus wherever He leads. I encourage you to make a choice to invite the Holy Spirit to fill you, empower you, and inspire you to be the child of God you are created to be. I urge you to make a choice to live the abundant life Jesus promises to each of us.
When you choose to live a life that is focused on loving other people and bringing glory to the Lord God, you will be living more and more into the dream Jesus has for your life. And, at the end of the day you will take delight in the Lord God.
Take Delight In The Lord!
