Give Thanks!

Give Thanks!
I give thanks for my family and friends. I give thanks for my brothers and sisters in Christ. I give thanks for Jesus’ love for me and Jesus’ calling on me.
I give thanks for the home in which I live and the church which I serve. I give thanks for enough food to eat and for heat when the nights are cold. I give thanks for red sunrises and blazing orange sunsets.
I give thanks for Jesus sharing His life, dying on a cross, and rising up to life after death. I give thanks for the promise of heaven and the assurance of Jesus’ presence with me now. I give thanks for the Holy Spirit offering guidance when I am uncertain and strength when I am weak.
I give thanks!
I invite you to give thanks on this Thanksgiving Day, too.
The Bible reminds us of the importance of giving thanks for God’s blessings…big and small…every day. Here are just three examples.
In I Thessalonians 5:18 we hear; “…give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” Giving thanks is God’s will for you and me.
In I Chronicles 16:34 we hear; “O give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever.” Giving thanks is our response to God’s goodness and Jesus’ love.
In Psalm 9:1 we hear; “I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.” Giving thanks is the outpouring of my heart because of the wonderful things the Lord has done, is doing, and will do.
Our God is good and generous and gracious. Our God is tender and touching and always triumphant. Our God is present and powerful and able to provide. I give thanks that our God loves me and loves you.
In Psalm 37:4-5 we hear; “Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act.”
I invite you to take delight in the Lord today…Thanksgiving Day. I also encourage you to invite your struggling friend to give thanks today, too.
Delight In The Lord!
