Jesus Speaks!

Jesus Speaks!

There are so many voices claiming they possess the way to real life.  The challenge is that many of these voices do not align with all the other voices I am hearing.  It gets confusing!

More often than we would like there are times when the way to real life that is offered by one voice is not consistent with itself from day to day and week to week.  It is perplexing!

And then, Joyce speaks.  She does not push her way and her truth and her way of life onto me.  Instead, she speaks with a humble heart and a gentle spirit.  Recently, she spoke softly with her voice and her eyes.

Joyce was confident that Jesus knew where she was and what was going on.  She had the assurance Jesus would speak a word of healing and strength and comfort to her.

Earlier in Joyce’s life, Jesus had spoken a word of guidance and inspiration and empowerment over her.  She knew Jesus would speak now when she needed a Word from Jesus.  She was patiently listening for the soul-language she knew was the Word of God.

Joyce was waiting to hear the voice of Jesus.  She still believed the Savior speaks a language that has a healing and holy impact on her as well as on you and me.  She knew that Jesus was with her where she was.  She knew Jesus could reach her with strength in her weakness and comfort in her last days.

We can have the same assurance as Joyce.  In Psalm 119:105 we hear; “Your (Lord God) word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”  There is one voice that leads us to real life; a life of hope and love as well as a life of peace and joy.  That voice is the Word of God that shines like a light to lead us to real life.

The challenge is that we are sometimes distracted from hearing the voice of Jesus because there are so many other voices claiming they possess the way to real life.  But, there is one voice that makes clear the direction I am to go and shows me the next step to take.  So, Joyce listens and I listen and you can listen, too.

In our busyness we listen.  In our silence we listen.  In our distraction we listen.  In our skepticism we listen.  In our jubilation we listen.  In our disappointment we listen.  In our prayers we listen.  In our brokenness we listen.

And then, Jesus speaks in a language that sometimes only our heart understands.  We know Jesus is leading us closer to God’s heart, closer to the person in need of help, closer to the peace and joy only the Spirit can give.

In the midst of all the other voices, we hear Jesus’ voice.  In that moment light shines upon us.  In that moment, we are covered with the presence of His love.  In that moment, our heart responds with pure delight in the Lord.  Listen.  Jesus speaks.

Take Delight In The Lord!
