Your Old Ways May Not Fit God’s New Way!

Your Old Ways Might Not Fit God’s New Ways!

Happy New Year!  I pray this year is a new beginning for you.  Maybe some things can be finally resolved.  Maybe some things can finally open up.  Maybe some things can finally start to grow.

My prayer is peace and joy as well as faith and love will be God’s gifts for you in 2022…especially faith!

The challenge is there are often things that may get in the way and hold us back from a God-sized dream.  Too often we allow our past to define who we are today.  But the past, whether it is filled with blessings or brokenness has a way of keeping us stuck and shackled.

The good news is the Holy Spirit is working us out of all the things that keep leading us back into our old story lines.  In Romans 8:28 we hear; “We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.”

It’s time to begin looking for signs and wonders that remind us the Spirit is at work.  At the same time, it is important to remind ourselves that the good things the Spirit is creating new in us will be revealed in God’s time.  The time between when we ask Jesus to lead us and when Jesus provides the answer will require some trust and patience.

Sometimes it feels like we are being pulled between the past that shackles us and the new life that Jesus promises us.  We may experience some growing pains; we will be stretched at the same time that Jesus is making all things new.  Your old ways might not fit God’s new ways!

The key is to focus on Jesus and not on you.  It is through the birth of Jesus (Christmas), the death of Jesus (the cross), and the resurrection of Jesus (Easter) that we have any hope of a better year or the promise of God’s blessings.

Day by day, the Son of God will continue to mold us and make us into Christ’s image.  The Spirit will continue to light the path, show the way, and reveal His new creation in you.  Sometimes the promise of God will come rushing in.  Other times, the promise of God will be revealed a little at a time.

Today you can choose to shift your focus in 2022 and build your life on a foundation of Christ.  You can run from the lies of the past.  You can run from the pain of the past.  You can run from where you have been to where Jesus is calling you to go.

The trust you need will be given to you by the Lord God when you ask for the gift of faith.  In Ephesians 2:8 we hear; “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God…”

Trust Jesus with your whole heart, your whole life, and your whole dream in 2022.  When you do, your heart will take delight in the Lord.

Take Delight In The Lord!
