Healing!

Healing!

As I continued to suffer through the discomfort and discouragement of a several-week-long illness, I began to wonder if Jesus would heal me.

I know that Jesus heals all kinds of things; our attitudes, our broken hearts, and even our sin.  And, every day I pray for healing for people I know.  But, I began to wonder if Jesus would heal me.

Of course, I was sick of being sick.  I was discouraged and maybe even a little depressed when I just could not seem to get past the infection in my body.  But, there was a spiritual battle going on, too.

A few weeks ago, someone shared with me a Bible verse that meant a great deal to them.  They were not offering the Scripture for me but for me to use at a funeral for their loved one.  The text is from the Psalms and is titled, “Thanksgiving For Recovery From Grave Illness.”

In Psalm 30:2 we hear; “O Lord my God, I cried to you for help, and you have healed me.”  I have held tight to this verse in the last few weeks.  The Word of God promises that when I call on the Lord for help, He will heal me.

Sometimes I will ask Jesus for a healing of my body and Jesus chooses to heal my mind, my heart, or my soul.  Sometimes Jesus will heal my body, too.  The Psalmist proclaims this truth.

Towards the end of Psalm 30, we hear about the soul-rejoicing that occurs when we are healed by Jesus.  In Psalm 30:11-12 we hear;

“You have turned my mourning into dancing; you have taken off my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, so that my soul may praise you and not be silent.  O Lord my God, I will give thanks to you forever.”

Our response to the healing of Jesus is to dance, to express joy, and to praise the Lord.  We give thanks every day for Jesus’ healing touch.

I am hopeful a full recovery is still coming for me.  I am feeling so much better, but am not feeling great yet.  I continue to ask Jesus for healing.  In the middle of the night last week, I asked Jesus for a specific healing of a specific struggle I was experiencing.

Although my healing is not complete, I am already giving my thanks to Jesus.  I continue to call out to Jesus for help with the confidence he will heal me.

I invite you to do the same; call on Jesus today and ask for His healing and loving touch on you.  When you experience the healing touch of Jesus, your heart will be filled with delight.

Take Delight In The Lord!
