The Rains Come!

The Rains Come!
For most of the winter and through early spring, the area where I live plummeted deeper and deeper into drought. Snow rarely fell and rain was non-existent. The rich farm soil was further depleted by the constant onslaught of 30+ and even 50+ mile per hour winds.
The grass that is so important to ranching in the hills was little more than fiery fuel for any kind of spark. The fires swept across tens of thousands of acres of grassland with no respect for wildlife, homes, or human life.
Firefighters died during this season of drought. Families were displaced during this season of drought. Lifestyles were jeopardized during this season of drought.
Drought reminds us of how unpredictable our lives and our livelihood can be. Drought reminds us of how dangerous and destructive one careless act can be. Drought reminds us of how important it is to pray with the confidence the Lord God will provide.
We prayed for families whose homes were threatened. We prayed for those who lost loved ones. We prayed for those who lost hope for the future. And, we prayed for rain.
We prayed for rain during worship at church. We prayed for rain around the dinner table with our family. We prayed for rain while driving down a country road to see the fire’s advance.
We prayed the rains would come.
And…the rains did come. In early May, almost three inches came in a matter of a couple of days. The rain was a precious gift from the Lord God. It brought an end to drought that had dried up our land and was beginning to dry up our hope.
God’s people have always known that rain is a blessing of God. In ancient times, a prophet by the name of Elijah speaks about rain to a king named Ahab. In I Kings 18:41 Elijah says to Ahab; “Get something to eat and drink. I hear a heavy rain coming.”
Elijah is confident of God’s faithfulness to provide for the people of God. Elijah’s confidence flows out of deep faith in the Lord God. Our faith in the Lord grows deeper and deeper when we remember and celebrate the times when the Lord has provided in the past.
Our prayers have been answered by the Lord who has sent us the rains. We are grateful the earth has been revived. We are also grateful the same Lord is eager to revive our lives. Just as we pray for the gentle rains to come, we pray for a fresh anointing of the Holy Spirit to come.
I sense a new movement of the Spirit is preparing to rain down on your life.
I believe a new breakthrough of the Lord is getting ready to shower on your life.
I know a radical re-positioning of the things of God’s Kingdom are about to pour down on your life.
The rain of the Spirit’s anointing is coming. Like the rain, you may not be able to see it coming. But, whatever in your heart is dried up and drought-stricken is about to be drenched with the faithfulness of God, the amazing love of Jesus, the power of the Holy Spirit.
When this rain of the Spirit showers over you, your heart will be filled with delight.
Take Delight In The Lord!
