I Will Give Thanks!
It is Thanksgiving Day!
We are spending the day with our kids in Oklahoma. Of course, there will be an abundance of great food because our daughter’s in-laws really know how to celebrate when family gathers around a table. And there will be plenty of love to share at the table, too.
It will be a great day filled with many of God’s blessings, the love of family, and some moments to give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, His grace, and His generosity. I am reminded of the Psalmist’s choice to give his praise to the Lord. In Psalm 9:1-2 we hear;
“I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart;
I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.
I will be glad and exult in you;
I will sing praise to your name, O Most High.”
I am praying for you on this Thanksgiving Day.
+I pray you will let your whole heart sing a song of praise and thanks to Jesus.
+I pray you will take an opportunity today to remember and to count and to celebrate all the wonderful blessings of God.
+I pray you will choose to be glad and grateful today.
+I pray you will keep your eyes on Jesus as you offer Jesus your praise and thanks today.
When you do, your heart will be filled with delight!
For those for whom this Thanksgiving Day is filled with more pain than praise, I would like to share the promise of God’s Word. The Psalmist understands that giving our praise to the Lord is not always easy. In Psalm 9:18 we hear;
“For the needy shall not always be forgotten,
Nor the hope of the poor perish forever.”
Even when life is not fair or pain seems unrelenting or disappointments threaten to crush, the Lord promises there is hope. Jesus knows you and your disappointment. Jesus loves you when your tears continue to flow. Jesus reaches out for you when injustice seems to win the day.
Although it seems unnatural or even naïve, I invite you to give thanks to Jesus for even the smallest of blessings. Jesus will take your praise and use it to restore your hope and to renew your healing.
When you do, your heart will be filled with delight!
Take Delight In The Lord!
Doug
P.S. Please invite someone to join our blog community so they can offer their praise to the Lord God today.
