A Loving Savior!

A Loving Savior!

I am surrounded by people who love me; family, friends, and neighbors as well as people at church, new friends at the coffee shop, and an older woman who walks in the park near our home.

The love of other people is necessary to live a healthy and holy life.  We are created to love and to be loved.  So, when love is absent, all kinds of things become unhealthy in us and around us.

As important as the love of other people are for me, there is another love that is even more important; the love of Jesus for me!

Here is the eighth attribute of the character of God; the Lord God is our loving Savior.

In Psalm 91:15-16 we hear; “When they call to me, I will answer them; I will be with them in trouble, I will rescue them and honor them.  With long life I will satisfy them, and show them my salvation.”

The promise of Psalm 91 is when you call to the Lord God, He will respond to your prayers in a variety of ways.  The Psalmist says the Lord God will…

Answer them…

Be with them…

Rescue them…

Honor them…

Satisfy them…

Show them…

Jesus responds to our prayers because Jesus is our loving Savior.  In I John 4:9 we hear; God’s love was revealed among us in this way:  God sent his only Son (Jesus) into the world so that we might live through him.”

We know we are loved by the Lord because God sent his only Son so we might know how to live and love in ways that honors God.  We also hear this promise in John 3:16; “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life.”

Love is more than an emotion or feeling; love is how we take action!  God’s love for you was made real when your Heavenly Father sent His only Son, Jesus.  God’s love became more than a feeling when God took action and gave us His Son.

The Lord God is our loving Savior.  Jesus loves you!  When you pray, Jesus will answer you, be with you, rescue you, honor you, satisfy you, and show you.  Jesus responds to your prayers because Jesus loves you.

But, there is more good news for you and me today.  Jesus saves those who trust Him.  To gain our trust, the Lord listens to our every prayer, our every cry, our every plea.

In Psalm 91 we are reminded that the Lord will “show them my salvation.”  When we open our heart, our mind, and our soul to receive Jesus as our loving Savior, Jesus will show us real life, real love, and real salvation.  Jesus is our loving Savior.

Today may be the right time for you to open your heart, your mind, and your soul to Jesus again (or for the first time!).  I encourage you to…

Confess your sin.

Ask for forgiveness.

Invite Jesus to be your loving Savior.

The Word of God in Psalm 91 promises that when you call to Jesus, Jesus will answer you with that which you need most.  When you experience Jesus’ response to your prayer, your heart will fill with delight.

Take Delight In The Lord!
