I Am Hurting; God Will Heal!

I Am Hurting; God Will Heal!
I need healing!
I need physical healing; my neck has been hurting since April.
I need emotional healing; my heart hurts when I miss my mother.
I need mental healing; I feel stuck in negative thinking about a family member.
I need spiritual healing; God’s purpose for me seems increasingly unclear.
I need healing!
I need the kind of healing that only Jesus can provide. I need restored hope, I need relief from physical pain, I need the assurance I am pleasing to God, I need to repair and rebuild a relationship. Whether it is my body, my heart, my mind, or my soul, there are seasons when you and I need healing.
I need healing!
I invite you to take a moment to read Psalm 147. Read the Psalm slowly and note the words I have emphasized. These are the things the Lord God is willing to do to bring healing in your life.
1 Shout praises to the Lord!
Our God is kind,
and it is right and good
to sing praises to him.
2 The Lord rebuilds Jerusalem
and brings the people of Israel
back home again.
3 He renews our hopes
and heals our bodies.
4 He decided how many stars
there would be in the sky
and gave each one a name.
5 Our Lord is great and powerful!
He understands everything.
6 The Lord helps the oppressed,
but he smears the wicked
in the dirt.
7 Celebrate and sing!
Play your harps
for the Lord our God.
8 He fills the sky with clouds
and sends rain to the earth,
so that the hills
will be green with grass.
9 He provides food for cattle
and for the young ravens,
when they cry out.
10 The Lord doesn’t care about
the strength of horses
or powerful armies.
11 The Lord is pleased only
with those who worship him
and trust his love.
12 Everyone in Jerusalem,
come and praise
the Lord your God!
13 He makes your city gates strong
and blesses your people.
14 God lets you live in peace,
and he gives you
the very best wheat.
15 As soon as God speaks,
the earth obeys.
16 He covers the ground with snow
like a blanket of wool,
and he scatters frost
like ashes on the ground.
17 God sends down hailstones
like chips of rocks.
Who can stand the cold?
18 At his command the ice melts,
the wind blows,
and streams begin to flow.
19 God gave his laws and teachings
to the descendants of Jacob,
the nation of Israel.
20 But he has not given his laws
to any other nation.
Shout praises to the Lord!
Psalm 147 promises Jesus will…
Rebuild what has been destroyed in you
Renew what has become hopeless in you
Heal what has been causing pain in you
Understand what has been going on with you
Help with what has been oppressing you
Fill what has been empty in you
Send replenishment to what has been dried up in you
Provide for what has run low in you
Be pleased with you no matter what has been happening in or to you
Strengthen what has become weak in you
Bless what has become unlovable in you
Give peace to what has become less than whole and holy in you
Give the best to what has become undeserving and unworthy in you
Cover what has become cold and hard in you
Scatter what has become discouraged and dead in you
Make streams flow in what has become lifeless in you
Reveal God’s Word to what has become untruth in you
I am hurting; God will heal me!
It does not matter what or who caused you pain 40 years ago. It does not matter what or who caused you pain 4 minutes ago. It does not matter if you are responsible for the pain, a family member is responsible for the pain, or life is responsible for the pain. God can and will heal you!
We all hurt sometimes. It does not matter the source, the intensity, or the length of the suffering. It does not matter whether the pain is physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual. It does not matter whether you have never asked Jesus to heal you or you have asked a thousand times for Jesus to heal you.
Today is an opportunity for you to hold on to the promise of God’s Word in Psalm 147. Jesus can make any broken thing whole again. Jesus can fill any empty place in you with joy and strength and life. Jesus can restore hope, provide help, and rebuild the damaged places in you.
You and I need healing; God will heal you and me!
First, start with the promises of Psalm 147. Read the Psalm once each day for the next 21 days. Hold on to what the Lord God will do to relieve and restore and rebuild your places of pain.
Second, pray the promises of healing in Psalm 147 each day for the next 21 days. If you need filled up, pray for the healing that comes in being filled and replenished. If you need relief from pain, pray for the healing that comes when we are restored. If you need to know you are loved and accepted by the Lord, pray for the healing that comes when we believe God is pleased with us and is blessing us.
Third, invite a Christian friend to pray for healing in you. Ask them to pray for healing in you once each day for the next 21 days. Encourage them to read Psalm 147 and pray for the kind of healing God promises in the Psalm.
Fourth, attend worship at a church that believes Jesus still heals for the next three weeks. Arrive early so you can read through Psalm 147. Expect Jesus to continue bringing healing to you during worship.
Sometimes the healing of Jesus is spontaneous. Sometimes the healing of Jesus occurs over a season. Sometimes the healing of Jesus will occur over an entire life-time. No matter how long, Jesus will heal you and me.
I am hurting; God will heal me!
When healing comes, our hearts will be filled more and more with delight in the Lord. In fact, it is often as we faithfully take delight in the Lord that Jesus touches us with healing.
Take Delight In The Lord!
