Run To Jesus!

Run To Jesus!
“Christ is risen!
Christ is risen, indeed!”
That ancient call and response was exchanged between Christ-followers whenever and wherever they met on Easter day.
This simple statement of faith in in the resurrection of Jesus, encouraged believers to do everything possible to draw near to the living Christ. Like those who ran toward the Risen Christ on the first Easter morning, we can run to Jesus, too.
Look for the description of early believers running to Jesus after He was raised from the dead to life again.
In Luke 24:1-12 we hear; “But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they (the women) went to the tomb, taking the spices that they had prepared. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they went in they did not find the body. While they were perplexed about this, suddenly two men in dazzling clothes stood beside them. The women were terrified and bowed their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, ‘Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be handed over to the hands of sinners and be crucified and on the third day rise again.’ Then they remembered his words, and returning from the tomb they told all this to the eleven and to all the rest. Now it was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the other women with them who told this to the apostles. But these words seemed to them an idle tale, and they did not believe them. But Peter got up and ran to the tomb; stooping and looking in, he saw the linen cloths by themselves; then he went home, amazed at what had happened.”
Peter ran to see the risen Jesus at the garden tomb. When he got there, I imagine he had run so hard that he was out of breath. When he looked inside the tomb of Jesus, Peter saw the burial clothes. However, the body of Jesus was not there; Jesus had risen from the dead to live again!
The Apostle Luke tells us that when Peter left the garden tomb “…he went home, amazed…” Because Peter had run to Jesus, he experienced the fulfillment of the promise that Jesus would be raised from death to life. Because he gave the energy and time and effort to run to Jesus, he was amazed again at the presence and power of Jesus, the Son of God.
+What would it look like if rather than waiting for Jesus to come to you, you shifted your focus to running (running hard!) to Jesus?
+What would it look like if rather than waiting for someone else to teach you more about Jesus, you made a commitment to run to Jesus and learn directly from Him?
+What would it look like if after running to Jesus, your mind was filled with awe, your heart was filled with amazement, and your soul was filled with wonder in knowing and being near the risen Jesus?
Maybe it is time to stop making excuses and start running to Jesus.
Maybe it is time to stop focusing on everything that has disappointed you and start running to Jesus.
Maybe it is time to shift your attention from that impossible loss you experienced and start running to Jesus.
Maybe it is time to stop lamenting the pain of the past and start running to Jesus.
Maybe it is time to move out of your lackadaisical practice of the spiritual disciplines and start running to Jesus.
Maybe it is time to forget your deepest fear and start running to Jesus.
Run to Jesus so you can meet and greet the Risen Christ! When you do, your heart and your love and your laughter will fill with delight in the Lord God.
Take Delight In The Lord!
